Xpense Monitor

Xpense Monitor

Overview

Xpense Monitor is a personal finance and expense tracker that keeps income, expenses, transfers and account balances in one clean, mobile-friendly dashboard.

It is a full-stack app: a Next.js 16 frontend talking to a Node.js / Express REST API with MongoDB behind it.

What you can do

  • Track money: add, edit and delete income and expense transactions, each tied to a category and a balance source
  • Organize: create income and expense categories with custom icons and color codes, reusable across transactions
  • Manage balance sources: keep separate accounts such as cash, bank, mobile wallet, savings or a business account, with current balance, income and expense totals per source
  • Transfer: move money between sources with a date and an optional note, then review the history with filters
  • Find things fast: search and filter transactions by date, type, category, source and keyword, with pagination for large lists
  • See the big picture: the dashboard shows total balance, income and expense summaries for a chosen month or year, plus recent transactions
  • Export: download transaction statements
  • Personalize: switch the app-wide currency from settings

Accounts and security

Users sign in with a username and password. Pages behind the login are protected, and there are forgot-password and reset-password flows plus a secure logout. On the server, passwords are hashed with bcrypt and the API uses JWT for authentication.
